It looks like a sequel to D.E.B.S. will not be coming to a theatre near you anytime soon.  D.E.B.S. director, Angela Robinson, confirmed that due to lack of funding, plans for D.E.B.S. 2 is now on the back burner.

Angela Robinson responds to a question from a member of the AfterEllen community.

Question: Has [director] Angela Robinson announced plans to make a sequel to the movie D.E.B.S.?

Answer: I sent your question to Angela this weekend, and here’s what she emailed back:

Plans for Plans for D.E.B.S. 2 are on the back burner for now due to lack of financing.

I outlined a sequel which continues the adventures of the D.E.B.S. — the D.E.B.S. Academy is attacked by Lucy Diamond’s former gang, led by her ex-girlfriend from Australia, and the D.E.B.S. need to go track down Lucy and Amy to help them fight this greater evil — and also a prequel — How Lucy Diamond came to be Lucy Diamond, her first romance, etc. If you or your readers happen to know any rich lesbians/D.E.B.S. fans who have a few million dollars sitting around that did not disappear in the financial meltdown, I’d be happy to make it.

I’ve been so inspired by the Buffy Season 8 comic books, I’m looking into doing the sequel as a comic.

So it looks like you’re more likely to see a D.E.B.S. sequel — or prequel — in a comic book store, before a theater.

Fast and Furious has been moved 2 months ahead of previously scheduled Spring date. The high-octane film is now scheduled to be released on April 3, 2009.

From www.aceshowbiz.com

“Fast and Furious” will come out sooner than expected. After previously being moved back to June 12, 2009 tentpole, the latest sequel to 2001 street racing film, “The Fast and the Furious”, is now expected to be debuted on the big screen on April 3, 2009….

This Justin Lin-directed movie takes over the slot left by “The Wolfman”, which has been moved back to November 6, 2009 date from its initial April 3, 2009 schedule. Reasoning on the reshuffling of the release date, Universal Pictures claimed as reported by Variety that it “was the sensible thing to do”, especially with “Fast and Furious” has been completed.

Fast and Furious” teams up once again the original “The Fast and the Furious” cast ensemble, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster as the film will mark the return of the foe-turned-ally duo, ex-con Dom Toretto and agent Brian O’Conner. This fourth film will put the pair in a new mission that pushes the limits of what’s possible behind the wheel to bring down their shared enemy.
